Internship Letter from University: NOC, Request and Acceptance Templates

An internship letter from university is the signed letter your department issues to confirm you are its student and to support your internship at a company. Departments call it a request letter, a recommendation letter or an NOC (no objection certificate).

Every university, and often every department, has its own procedure and signatory. If yours has a form or format, use it. This page is for everyone else: the documents in order, four templates and how to get the letter signed quickly.

Writing to a company yourself is a different letter: see our internship application letter format.

The documents in order: who writes what, and when

Your department may use only some of these. Ask the coordinator which ones it needs before it counts the internship towards your degree.

Document Who writes it Who it goes to When
Application for a letter or NOC You HOD or internship coordinator Once you have chosen a company
Request or recommendation letter Department (HOD, coordinator or placement office) Company HR With your application
NOC (no objection certificate) Department The company, or “to whom it may concern” Before you start
Acceptance or offer letter The company You, often copied to the department After you are selected
Joining confirmation Company supervisor or HR Coordinator First week
Weekly or mid-term reports You, signed by your supervisor Coordinator or faculty supervisor Weekly or at mid-point
Evaluation form Company supervisor Department Final week
Completion certificate The company You, with a copy to the department At the end

Names vary: introduction letter, permission letter and allotment letter usually mean the second or third row.

Request letter, NOC or acceptance letter: what each one says

  • Request letter (university to company): this student is enrolled with us; please consider them for an internship. It asks.
  • NOC (university to company): we have no objection to this internship between these dates. It permits.
  • Acceptance letter (company to student or university): we have taken this student, in this track, for these dates, under this supervisor. It confirms. This is what people mean by an “internship letter from company to student”.

How to get an internship letter from university quickly

  1. Ask which form your department uses. If one exists, fill that in rather than writing your own letter.
  2. Collect the company details. Company name and address, the person the letter is addressed to, an HR email, your track, dates, and onsite or remote.
  3. Attach the usual documents. CNIC copy, student card, latest transcript, and the company’s offer email or advert if you have one. The form will list anything else.
  4. Hand in a ready draft. With no form, submit your application with a typed draft of template (b) or (c). A correct draft is quicker to approve than a blank request.
  5. Check before it is signed. Name exactly as on your CNIC, registration number, semester, company name and dates.
  6. Scan it the same day. Letterhead, signature and stamp; email the scan to the company and keep the original.

Apply a couple of weeks before your start date, and follow up politely if nothing happens within a few working days.

NOC for internship: no objection certificate format

Shorter than a request letter: it confirms enrolment and says the department does not object. A “to whom it may concern” version lets you apply to more than one company.

Companies write this on their own letterhead. If one asks you to prepare a draft for its signature, use this shape: dates, track, mode and supervisor are what your department checks.

After you join: weekly reports, evaluation and completion

The internship letter from university gets you in. What earns the credit comes later:

  • Joining confirmation in week one. With no department form, a short email from your supervisor confirming your start date usually does the job.
  • Weekly reports or a diary, written every week. Our internship weekly report format has templates and samples.
  • The evaluation form, handed to your supervisor early so they know what they will score.
  • Completion certificate and final report: see the internship certificate format and the internship report format.

Applying directly to a company, and where Ezitech fits

You do not always need the university letter before you apply. Some companies, including Ezitech, accept students who apply directly. Your department may still want its own letter, NOC or form on file before it counts the internship, so ask your coordinator first.

Ezitech’s internship programme runs for 3 months, onsite in Rawalpindi or remote. Interns who complete it receive a certificate and experience letter, each with a QR code your coordinator can verify on portal.ezitech.org. Ezitech has signed MoUs with NUML and Ibadat International University (see partners and collaborations).

If your department asks for a set duration, confirm a 3-month internship is acceptable before you join. Read 6 weeks internship in Pakistan if yours asks for six weeks.

Internship letter and NOC questions

Do I need an NOC for an internship?

Only if the company or your department asks for one. If the internship counts towards your degree, most departments want their own letter or NOC on file.

How do I get an NOC from my college for an internship?

Ask the coordinator for the department’s form, attach your CNIC copy, student card, transcript and company details, and get it signed. With no form, submit an application like template (a) with a draft NOC.

What is the difference between an internship letter and an NOC?

A request letter asks a company to take you as an intern. An NOC only confirms you are enrolled and that the department does not object.

What is an internship acceptance letter?

The letter a company issues confirming it has accepted you, with dates, track and supervisor. Many departments ask for a copy.

Can I do an internship without a letter from my university?

Yes, many companies accept direct applications. If you need course credit, check with your coordinator first, because the department may only count internships that went through its own process.

How long does it take to get an internship letter from university?

It depends on your department and when the signatory is available. Apply a couple of weeks early, attach everything the form asks for, and follow up politely.
