Internship report format for Pakistani universities
A structure you can follow section by section, what belongs in each part, and the mistakes that cost marks. Written for BS Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT and business students in Pakistan.
Before anything else: ask your department for its own template. If your university gives you one, that one wins over every guide on the internet, including this page. Use this when there is no template, or when the template says “10 to 15 pages” and nothing else.

In Word, click Yes when it asks to update fields, and the table of contents fills itself. Using Google Docs? Go to Insert > Table of contents to rebuild the contents page.
The standard structure
Most internship reports in Pakistan follow this order. Page counts are a working guide for a 20 to 30 page report.
| Section | What goes in it | Length |
|---|---|---|
| Title page | Report title, your name, roll number, degree and department, university, company name, internship dates, submission date | 1 page |
| Internship certificate | A scan of the certificate or experience letter from the company | 1 page |
| Acknowledgement | Short thanks to supervisor, mentor and department. Three or four sentences. | 1 page |
| Table of contents | Auto generated from your headings, with page numbers | 1 page |
| Executive summary | What you did, where, for how long, and the two or three things you learned. Written last. | Half a page |
| Company introduction | What the company does, services, structure, where you sat. Facts only, no marketing copy. | 2 to 3 pages |
| Department or team | The team you worked with, tools they use, how work reaches them | 1 to 2 pages |
| Work done, week by week | The core of the report. Tasks, what you built, screenshots, problems and fixes. | 8 to 12 pages |
| Skills learned | Technical and professional, each tied to a specific task, not a list of buzzwords | 2 pages |
| SWOT or critical analysis | Required by many business departments, optional for most computing ones | 1 to 2 pages |
| Conclusion and recommendations | What the internship gave you, and one or two honest suggestions | 1 page |
| References and annexes | Documentation you used, code listings, extra screenshots | As needed |

Sample text you can adapt
These samples are written for a web development intern. Replace everything in [brackets] and rewrite the sentences in your own words, because most departments run reports through a plagiarism check.
I am grateful to [Company Name] for the opportunity to complete my internship in its web development team. I thank my supervisor, [Name], for guiding me and reviewing my code throughout the internship. I also thank [University Supervisor] and the Department of Computer Science for their support in preparing this report.
This report describes my eight-week web development internship at [Company Name], [City], from [start date] to [end date]. I worked on [project name], where I built [feature] using React and Laravel. I learned how a software company plans, builds and tests client projects, and I practised Git, code reviews and REST API integration.
Weeks 3 and 4: Product listing module. I built the product listing page for a client’s online store in React and connected it to the Laravel API. I added search and category filters, then fixed the issues my team lead raised in code review. The page moved to the staging server at the end of week 4.
Challenge: I had never used Git in a team, and my first merge overwrote a colleague’s changes.
What I did: My supervisor showed me feature branches and pull requests, and I practised on a test repository.
Result: From week 3 onwards, all my work went through pull requests without conflicts.
Weekly log: the part examiners actually read
Write each week the same way, in three short parts. Four lines per week beats a page of description.
- Task. “Built the login and session handling for the admin panel.”
- How. The tools and the approach, in one or two sentences.
- Problem and fix. “Sessions expired on refresh. The token was stored in memory, so I moved it to an httpOnly cookie.”
That third line is what separates a real report from a copied one. Keep notes every week during the internship, because reconstructing twelve weeks from memory at the end is how reports become vague.
Formatting that departments usually expect
- Times New Roman 12 or Arial 11 for body text, headings slightly larger and bold
- Line spacing 1.5, justified text
- Margins around one inch, with a little extra on the binding side
- Page numbers from the introduction onward
- Every figure and table numbered with a caption, and referred to in the text
- Submitted as PDF unless your department asks for Word, and spiral or hard bound if a printed copy is required
Again: if your handbook says something different, follow the handbook.
Five mistakes that cost marks
- Copying the company profile from its website. Supervisors recognise marketing language immediately, and plagiarism checks flag it.
- No screenshots of your own work. Evidence is the difference between claiming and showing.
- Listing technologies you only read about. You will be asked about them in the viva.
- Nothing going wrong. A report where every week is a success reads as fiction. Problems and fixes are the substance.
- Submitting without the certificate. Ask the company for the certificate and experience letter before your last week, not after.
What a proper certificate should contain is covered on our internship certificate page.
Internship report questions
How long should an internship report be in Pakistan?
Most departments expect 20 to 30 pages for a six to twelve week internship. Check your handbook first, because some ask for 10 to 15 and some for 40 plus.
What is the correct format for an internship report?
Title page, certificate, acknowledgement, table of contents, executive summary, company introduction, department overview, week by week work, skills learned, conclusion and recommendations, references and annexes.
Can I write the report after the internship ends?
You can, but it will be weaker. Keep a weekly log of tasks, problems and fixes during the internship, then assemble it at the end.
Do I need a SWOT analysis?
Business departments usually require one. Most computing departments do not, and a short critical analysis of the tools and workflow serves better.
Does the report need the company certificate attached?
Almost always. Request the completion certificate and experience letter before your final week so submission is not delayed.
Doing the internship first
A report is easy to write when the work was real. Ezitech runs three-month internships on live client projects, onsite in Rawalpindi near Islamabad or fully remote, with a completion certificate and experience letter at the end.
See tracks and apply, or read about the summer 2026 cycle and what each track is tested on. For the paperwork around the report, use the internship weekly report format during the internship and check the internship certificate format at the end.
