Internship with certificate in Pakistan: what a real one looks like
Every internship in Pakistan promises a certificate. Very few say what is written on it, who signs it, or how an employer can check it. That difference decides whether the paper helps you in an interview or gets ignored.
Ezitech interns finish a three-month placement with a completion certificate and a separate experience letter, issued by a software house that has been delivering client work since 2015. This page explains what should be on a certificate, how employers actually treat them, and what to ask before you join any programme.
Participation, completion, experience letter: three different papers
These are not the same thing, and the gap between them is where most students get short changed.
| Document | What it says | What an employer reads into it |
|---|---|---|
| Participation certificate | You attended something | Almost nothing. Attendance is not work. |
| Completion certificate | You finished a defined programme, with dates | You stayed three months and were signed off. |
| Experience letter | Your role, the dates, and the work you actually did | This is the one they read. It can be matched against your portfolio and your answers. |
A programme that offers only the first one is selling a certificate, not an internship. Ask which of the three you will get, in writing, before you join.
What should be printed on it
- Your full name as it appears on your CNIC and degree.
- Start and end dates, not just a month or a vague “three months”.
- The track, for example MERN stack development or machine learning, not only “IT internship”.
- Company name, registration details and address on the letterhead.
- A named signatory with a designation, so an employer knows who to ask.
- A way to verify: an official email or phone number that a hiring manager can actually use.
If a certificate has none of this, it is a design file. HR teams in Pakistan see dozens of them every hiring round.
How employers actually check
Understanding this changes what you should optimise for.
- They look at the company first. A known, registered software house carries weight. A name with no website and no office does not.
- They ask you about the work, not the paper. “What did you build, what broke, what did you do about it.” A certificate from a real placement survives that conversation; one from a course does not.
- Some call or email. Not always, but often enough that a fake reference is a serious risk to your career.
- They compare it with your portfolio. If the certificate says three months of React and your GitHub is empty, it works against you.
So the certificate is the receipt. The project and the ability to talk about it are the product. Choose a programme that produces both. Our guide on what each track is tested on covers what interviewers ask.
Free certificates, paid certificates, and the honest middle
Online, you can get a certificate today for nothing. Some free programmes from large technology companies are genuinely valuable because the assessment behind them is real. Many others exist to collect your email.
The question is never the price. It is: did anyone senior spend time reviewing your work? That time is the whole value. If it is free, ask what the company gets out of it. If it has a fee, ask exactly what the fee covers. Either answer can be reasonable; no answer is the warning sign.
Ezitech charges a programme fee, and the reasoning for it is written openly on the internship programme page.
What Ezitech interns receive
- A completion certificate for the three-month track, with dates.
- A separate experience letter stating your role and the work you did.
- A capstone project you can show and explain, which for many students also becomes the final year project.
- A mentor from the delivery team who has seen your work closely enough to speak about it.
The internship runs onsite in Rawalpindi, near Islamabad, or fully remotely from any city. Both routes get the same documents.
Certificate questions
Do I get a certificate for an online internship?
Yes. Remote interns receive exactly the same completion certificate and experience letter as onsite interns, because the work and the review are the same.
Is a three-month internship certificate enough for my university requirement?
Three months covers the six or eight week requirement most departments set. If your university needs a specific format or a letter addressed to a named person, tell us at the start rather than at the end.
What is the difference between an internship certificate and an experience letter?
The certificate confirms you completed the programme. The experience letter describes your role, dates and the work you did. Employers read the letter more carefully.
Are free internship certificates worth anything?
Only if real assessment sits behind them. A certificate issued for watching videos adds nothing to a CV. What matters is whether someone reviewed your work.
Can an employer verify my certificate?
They should be able to. Ask any programme how verification works before you join. Ours carries the company letterhead and contact details, and the office in Rawalpindi is open to visit.
Will the certificate get me a job?
No certificate does that on its own. What gets interviews is a project you can explain and a real reference. The paper supports both; it does not replace them.
