Internship Certificate Format: Fields, Templates and Verification

An internship certificate format is the set of details a company puts on the document that proves your internship: who you are, what you did, for how long, and who can confirm it. Get those details right and the certificate holds up when your department or an employer checks it.

This page is about the document itself. If you are still choosing where to intern, read internship with certificate in Pakistan first.

What a valid internship certificate format includes

There is no single government format in Pakistan. These are the fields universities and employers look for, roughly in page order.

Field Why it matters
Company legal name and letterhead Shows which entity issued it: logo, address, phone, official email, website
Registration numbers NTN, SECP incorporation number, PSEB number for IT companies, where applicable
Intern’s full name Spelt exactly as on your CNIC and degree
Father’s name or CNIC Only if the company records it
University and roll number If your department asks, so it can match the certificate to you
Track or role For example “MERN stack intern” or “SEO intern”
Start date, end date and duration Proves the internship period; “summer 2026” is too vague
Hours or mode Hours per week; onsite, remote or hybrid
Short description of work Two to four lines of real tasks turn a certificate into evidence
Supervisor name, designation and signature A real person who can confirm what you did
Company stamp Expected on paper certificates by many departments and employers
Issue date Normally on or after the end date
Unique ID and verification link or QR Lets anyone confirm it online, on the company’s own domain
The minimum that should never be missing: your name, role, both dates, a signature with name and designation, and a way to contact the company.

Certificate, experience letter or recommendation: which proves what

Document Who issues it When What it proves
Participation certificate Organiser of a workshop, bootcamp or event At the end of the event You attended, not that you completed work
Completion certificate The company’s HR or programme team After the end date You completed an internship of a stated length in a stated role
Experience letter HR or your supervisor, on letterhead At the end, often on request What you worked on and how you performed
Recommendation letter Your supervisor or mentor personally On request, for jobs or admissions A named person vouches for your skills
Offer letter HR Before you start You were accepted, with role and dates; not that you finished

Ask for both. The certificate satisfies your department; the experience letter is what a recruiter reads.

Internship certificate format: copy-paste templates

Replace everything in square brackets, paste into Word or Google Docs on the company letterhead, and keep both a PDF and a signed, stamped paper copy. You can send HR a filled draft, but only the company can sign and issue it.

Prefer a ready file? All three templates below are in one Word file: the completion certificate on an A4 landscape page with a border, the experience letter, and the completion letter to the university. Fill in the square brackets, print on the company letterhead, then sign and stamp.

How universities and employers verify a certificate

  1. They scan the QR code or open the link. It should land on the company’s own domain with the same name, role and dates. A Google Drive file or a picture of the certificate is not verification.
  2. They contact the company using details from its official website, not the number printed on the certificate.
  3. They check the company exists: an NTN on FBR’s Taxpayer Profile Inquiry, a private limited company on SECP’s company search. PSEB numbers only apply to IT and IT-enabled companies.
  4. They ask you about the work: what you built, with which tools, and what went wrong. Your weekly reports and internship report are your backup.

Registration checks: FBR Taxpayer Profile Inquiry on e.fbr.gov.pk (search by NTN, CNIC or registration number); SECP company name search on secp.gov.pk.

Red flags of a fake or bought certificate

  • Offered “in one day” or for a price, with no work required.
  • Dates that do not fit: a “3-month internship” issued after two weeks, or dates that clash with exams or a full-time job.
  • No supervisor name, a pasted signature image, no stamp and no contact details.
  • A QR code that leads nowhere, to a generic homepage, or to an image instead of a record.
  • A company with no address, website or registration, only a social media page.
  • Generic work descriptions identical to your classmates’ certificates.

A bought certificate is a risk, not a shortcut: if it is discovered, you can lose the offer or the credit.

What to do if your company does not issue one

  1. Ask in writing in your first week, not on your last day, and confirm who will sign.
  2. Send a filled draft of template (a) or (b) so HR only has to check, print and sign.
  3. Accept a fallback: a signed supervisor’s letter on letterhead, or an official-domain email confirming your role and dates.
  4. Use your department’s form. Many departments have an evaluation proforma the supervisor fills and stamps.
  5. Keep your own evidence: offer letter, weekly reports, commits and emails.

How Ezitech’s internship certificates work

Ezitech’s certificate and experience letter both carry a QR code and unique ID that resolve on portal.ezitech.org, our own domain, so anyone can confirm them without emailing us. Each intern’s public profile lists their completed tasks with dates: the work behind the certificate.

We don’t sell certificates. Our internship programme runs for 3 months in one track, onsite in Rawalpindi or remote, on live client briefs with a named mentor reviewing work weekly. Ezitech is PSEB registered and NTN registered with FBR.

Internship certificate questions

What is the internship certificate format in Pakistan?

There is no single official format. A valid certificate is on company letterhead with your name, role, both dates, a short work description, the supervisor’s signature and designation, the company stamp and a way to verify it.

Is an internship certificate valid without a stamp?

Many departments expect a stamp on paper certificates, so ask for one. A signed digital certificate with a QR code on the company’s own domain is often accepted; check with your department.

What is the difference between an internship certificate and an experience letter?

The certificate confirms you completed an internship of a stated length. The experience letter describes what you worked on and how you performed.

Can I make my own internship certificate in Word?

You can draft one for the company to review. It only counts once the company prints it on letterhead and an authorised person signs and stamps it; signing it yourself is forgery.

How do I check if an internship certificate is real?

Scan the QR code and confirm it opens the company’s own website with matching details. Then contact the company using details from its official website.

Should I attach my internship certificate to my CV?

List the internship under experience with role, dates and two results, and share the certificate when asked. See how to make a CV.
