Verify internship certificate details: a practical guide for Pakistan

To verify internship certificate details, you check three things: that the company is real and registered, that the certificate can be traced to it, and that the internship it describes actually happened. This page is for university internship offices and employers checking a certificate, and for students checking a company before they spend weeks there.

It matters because the internship is now a degree requirement in most programmes, and that has created a market for certificates without work. Pakistani press has reported students paying for certificates, attendance sheets and signatures, and an HEC official warned years ago about bribes for completion certificates and reports on work never done. A certificate that fails verification can sink the whole internship.

Seven checks to verify internship certificate details

  1. The company exists. A working website, a full postal address and a business phone. Look the address up on a map.
  2. The company is registered. Ask for its registration details. Depending on the business, that can be an FBR NTN, an SECP incorporation, or membership of a body such as the Pakistan Software Export Board. Check them with the issuing body rather than trusting a number on paper.
  3. The letterhead matches. Name, address and website on the certificate should match the company’s own site.
  4. The details are complete. A proper certificate states the full name, start and end dates, the work or projects done, and remarks, with a signature and an official stamp. UMT’s internship manual lists exactly these points.
  5. The supervisor is reachable. A named supervisor with a designation and an official company email. IBA Karachi asks for an official address, not Gmail, and verifies by contacting the supervisor.
  6. The QR code or certificate ID resolves on the company’s own domain. Scan it and read the address bar. A QR that opens a file-sharing link, a social media page or an unrelated domain proves nothing.
  7. The paper trail agrees. The offer letter, log book, evaluation forms and report should tell the same story with the same dates.

Red flags

What you see Why it is a problem
No dates, or only a single “issued on” date The certificate cannot show the length your programme requires
Issued days after joining, or “urgent” delivery Six to eight weeks of work cannot fit in a few days
Supervisor on Gmail or a personal mobile only Nothing ties the person to the company
No address, or an address that does not exist There may be no workplace at all
QR code opening a random domain or a PDF Anyone can make that; it verifies nothing
Certificate sold without tasks or a supervisor This is a purchased document, and departments reject it
Backdated certificate It will not match the offer letter, log and university approval dates

For university internship offices

HEC’s guidelines expect a site supervisor to evaluate the intern during the placement and a faculty supervisor to keep in touch with the student throughout. That ongoing contact is the strongest form of verification: by the time a certificate arrives, you should already have evaluations and logs from the same host. Several universities build this in. IBA requires prior approval for unknown firms. NUML’s placement office approves internships students find themselves, and PU’s Software Engineering department wants an approval or acceptance letter before the start. If a certificate is the first document you see from a host, treat it with care.

See university internship requirements for how different universities set this up, and HEC internship policy for the national rules.

For employers

When a CV lists an internship, ask the candidate what they built and how it was reviewed, then check the certificate as above. A real intern can describe the project, the stack and their supervisor’s feedback. If the certificate has a QR code or ID, check it on the issuing company’s own website, and if anything is unclear, email the supervisor at the company address.

For students: check the company before you join

Run the same checks on a company before you accept an offer. If a company offers you a certificate without asking what you can do, without a supervisor and without any work, walk away. It is not a shortcut: your department can reject it, and some universities hold transcripts or final-year progress until the internship is cleared. See the internship certificate format for what a proper certificate looks like.

How to verify an Ezitech internship certificate

Ezitech Software House is a software house in Rawalpindi, founded in 2015, registered with the Pakistan Software Export Board, with an NTN from FBR. The office is at #304-G, Amna Plaza, Main Peshawar Road, Rawalpindi, and you can visit it.

  • Every Ezitech certificate and experience letter carries a QR code and an ID. Scan the code or enter the ID on portal.ezitech.org, our own domain, to confirm the document is genuine.
  • Universities can go further. Through our University Portal, the internship office logs in and sees each of its students’ tasks, check-ins with hours, evaluations and internship dates, and downloads the offer letter, certificate and an Internship Progress Report itself.
  • We do not issue certificates without a completed internship, we do not backdate, and we do not sell “urgent” certificates. If anyone offers you an Ezitech certificate without the internship, it is not from us.

Our internships run onsite in Rawalpindi or remotely for one, two or three months, with a named mentor reviewing work every week. See the internship programme and the fee and refund policy.

Questions

How can I verify an internship certificate?

Check that the company exists and is registered, that the letterhead and address match its website, that the certificate has full dates, work done, a signature and stamp, that the supervisor can be reached on an official email, and that any QR code opens a page on the company’s own domain.

How do I check if a company is registered in Pakistan?

Ask the company for its registration details, such as an FBR NTN, SECP incorporation or PSEB registration, and check them with the body that issued them rather than relying on the number printed on a letter.

How can I tell if an internship certificate is fake?

Common signs are missing dates, a certificate issued only days after joining, a supervisor with only a Gmail address, no real office address, a QR code that opens an unrelated website, and no offer letter, log or evaluation behind it.

Is an online internship certificate valid for university?

It depends on your department. Some accept remote internships, some only with prior approval, and some do not accept a fully online internship at all. Ask your internship office before you start, not after.

How do I verify an Ezitech internship certificate?

Scan the QR code on the certificate or experience letter, or enter its ID, on portal.ezitech.org. Universities with a University Portal login can also see the student’s full internship record directly.

Is buying an internship certificate risky?

Yes. Internship offices contact supervisors and compare the certificate with logs and evaluations. A purchased certificate can get the internship rejected and delay your degree.
