Jewellery Design Internship

Jewellery CAD is manufacturing, not illustration. A tenth of a millimetre matters, because the file you export gets printed, cast and worn.

The work

If it cannot be cast, it is not a design

Prong too thin, stone seat too shallow, undercut that traps investment. These are the failures that cost a workshop real money. You will learn to catch them in the file.

  • 1You get a real brief with stone sizes and metal
  • 2You model to manufacturing tolerances
  • 3Your mentor checks thickness, seats and undercuts
  • 4You render, prepare the STL and produce a spec sheet

No prior CAD needed. Weeks 1 to 3 cover Rhino from zero.

Skills

Eight things you will actually be able to do

01

Rhino modelling

NURBS surfaces, curves and precise control over every dimension.

02

Jewellery CAD

Matrix and jewellery-specific tooling for shanks, heads, settings and bands.

03

Manufacturing tolerances

Wall thickness, prong sizing, tolerances and what casting can actually reproduce.

04

Stone setting

Prong, bezel, pavé and channel settings modelled to real stone dimensions.

05

Design fundamentals

Proportion, ergonomics, comfort fit and jewellery that is wearable.

06

Rendering

KeyShot materials, metals, gemstones, lighting and presentation renders.

07

3D printing prep

Watertight meshes, supports, orientation and resin printing for casting.

08

Technical specification

Weight estimates, stone lists, metal specs and a workshop-ready sheet.

Curriculum

The 12-week plan

Four phases. Each one ends in a deliverable that is reviewed and graded before the next opens.

Rhino foundations

Precision modelling from zero.

  • Rhino interface, units, tolerances and workflow
  • Curves, surfaces, solids and boolean operations
  • Precision constructs, snapping and measurement
  • Reading a jewellery brief and technical sketch
Deliverable

Three precisely modelled simple bands to exact specified dimensions, verified by measurement.

The capstone

Every intern delivers a manufacturable piece

You take a real jewellery brief and deliver what a workshop needs: an accurate model, a print-ready file, presentation renders and a technical spec sheet.

  • Modelled to real manufacturing tolerances
  • Watertight, print-ready and audited
  • Rendered and specified for a workshop

The Ezitech model

What every Ezitech intern gets

Three things that make this different from a course you watch on a screen.

Live client briefs

You work on real Ezitech projects with real deadlines and real revision rounds, not recycled practice exercises.

A mentor, not a playlist

Weekly reviews with someone who does this work for a living, plus a team of interns around you to build with.

Portfolio and experience letter

You finish with shipped work you are allowed to show and a letter that says exactly what you delivered.

And you leave with
  • Verified certificate

Issued by Ezitech Institute and verifiable by employers.

  • Experience letter

On company letterhead, stating exactly what you delivered.

  • Print-ready jewellery files

Manufacturable models with renders and a spec sheet.

  • Interview preparation

CV rewrite, portfolio case study and a technical mock interview.

  • A route into the team

Top performers are considered first for paid junior roles.

  • Confidence in review

Twelve weeks of defending your own work to a senior practitioner.

Built for you if

  • You are a student or fresh graduate in design, gemmology or a related field
  • You come from a jewellery family business and want CAD skills
  • You have patience for millimetre precision
  • You want a specialised skill with export earning potential

Not a fit if

  • You want a certificate without doing the work
  • You cannot give 25 hours a week for 12 weeks
  • You are looking for a purely theoretical course
  • You want to skip review and work alone

Contact Ezitech
Do I need jewellery knowledge to start?
No. Weeks 1 to 3 teach Rhino and the jewellery vocabulary from zero: stone shapes, setting types, sizing. Interns from a family jewellery background move faster on the craft side, but everyone starts CAD at the same point.
How many hours a week does it take?
A minimum of 25 hours across 12 weeks, split between onsite sessions, mentor reviews and independent work. Interns who treat it as full-time finish with noticeably stronger portfolios.
Is it remote or onsite?
Hybrid. Onsite days run at the Ezitech office in Rawalpindi; the rest of the week is remote with scheduled check-ins. Candidates outside Rawalpindi and Islamabad can complete the track fully remotely if they attend the weekly review calls.
Is there real demand for jewellery CAD?
Yes, and it is unusually export-friendly. Pakistani jewellery CAD designers work with local workshops and with international clients on freelance platforms, where the ability to deliver a manufacturable file is the whole product.
Can final-year students apply?
Yes, and many do. The capstone is regularly used as a final-year project because it is built from a real brief with real requirements. Agree the scope with your mentor in week one if your university has a set submission format.
How do I apply?
Register on the Ezitech intern portal, choose the Jewellery Design track, and complete the three-step form with your education details and CV. Shortlisted candidates get a short screening call before the intake starts.
