Product Design Internship

Sketch, model, validate, render. You will take a product from a concept to a CAD model that could actually be manufactured, and present it like a real design studio.

The work

Anyone can model a shape. Few can model a part

Wall thickness, draft angles, snap fits, tolerances, assembly order. The difference between a render and a product is whether a factory can make it.

  • 1You sketch broadly and pick a direction with reasons
  • 2You model parametrically so changes stay cheap
  • 3Your mentor reviews it for manufacturability
  • 4You render, prepare drawings and present

No prior CAD needed. Weeks 1 to 3 cover sketching and SolidWorks from zero.

Skills

Eight things you will actually be able to do

01

Design sketching

Fast concept sketching, perspective and communicating an idea in thirty seconds.

02

Parametric CAD

SolidWorks and Fusion 360 modelling with a feature tree that survives revisions.

03

Assemblies

Mates, sub-assemblies, interference checks and exploded views.

04

Design for manufacture

Wall thickness, draft, ribs, bosses, snap fits and injection moulding constraints.

05

Technical drawings

Dimensioning, tolerances, GD&T basics and drawings a factory can read.

06

Prototyping

3D printing for fit testing and iterating on physical prototypes.

07

Rendering

KeyShot materials, studio lighting and photoreal presentation images.

08

Presentation

Boards, exploded views and pitching a design to a non-designer.

Curriculum

The 12-week plan

Four phases. Each one ends in a deliverable that is reviewed and graded before the next opens.

Sketch and CAD

Ideas fast, then geometry precise.

  • Concept sketching, perspective and ideation volume
  • SolidWorks fundamentals, sketches and features
  • Parametric thinking and a maintainable feature tree
  • Reading a product brief and defining constraints
Deliverable

Thirty concept sketches narrowed to one direction, plus a first parametric CAD model.

The capstone

Every intern designs one manufacturable product

You take a real brief (an enclosure, a consumer product, a fixture) from sketch through DFM-checked CAD to a prototype and a presented package.

  • Parametric CAD that survives revisions
  • Audited for manufacturability, not just looks
  • Prototyped, rendered and presented

The Ezitech model

What every Ezitech intern gets

Three things that make this different from a course you watch on a screen.

Live client briefs

You work on real Ezitech projects with real deadlines and real revision rounds, not recycled practice exercises.

A mentor, not a playlist

Weekly reviews with someone who does this work for a living, plus a team of interns around you to build with.

Portfolio and experience letter

You finish with shipped work you are allowed to show and a letter that says exactly what you delivered.

And you leave with
  • Verified certificate

Issued by Ezitech Institute and verifiable by employers.

  • Experience letter

On company letterhead, stating exactly what you delivered.

  • A presented product

CAD, renders and a specification sheet for one product.

  • Interview preparation

CV rewrite, portfolio case study and a technical mock interview.

  • A route into the team

Top performers are considered first for paid junior roles.

  • Confidence in review

Twelve weeks of defending your own work to a senior practitioner.

Built for you if

  • You are a student or fresh graduate in industrial design or mechanical engineering
  • You like both the sketching and the engineering side
  • You want portfolio work that shows CAD and presentation
  • You are interested in how things are actually made

Not a fit if

  • You want a certificate without doing the work
  • You cannot give 25 hours a week for 12 weeks
  • You are looking for a purely theoretical course
  • You want to skip review and work alone

Contact Ezitech
Do I need to be good at sketching?
Good enough to communicate an idea, which is a much lower bar than it sounds. Weeks 1 to 3 cover concept sketching from zero: the goal is speed and clarity, not finished illustration.
How many hours a week does it take?
A minimum of 25 hours across 12 weeks, split between onsite sessions, mentor reviews and independent work. Interns who treat it as full-time finish with noticeably stronger portfolios.
Is it remote or onsite?
Hybrid. Onsite days run at the Ezitech office in Rawalpindi; the rest of the week is remote with scheduled check-ins. Candidates outside Rawalpindi and Islamabad can complete the track fully remotely if they attend the weekly review calls.
SolidWorks or Fusion 360?
SolidWorks is the industry standard in manufacturing firms; Fusion 360 is faster for concept work and free for students. This track uses both, and the parametric modelling discipline transfers between them.
Can final-year students apply?
Yes, and many do. The capstone is regularly used as a final-year project because it is built from a real brief with real requirements. Agree the scope with your mentor in week one if your university has a set submission format.
How do I apply?
Register on the Ezitech intern portal, choose the Product Design track, and complete the three-step form with your education details and CV. Shortlisted candidates get a short screening call before the intake starts.
